2008 House Bill 2797 (impacts of climate change through the growth management act)

  • Introduced by Rep. Geoff Simpson, (D-Covington) on January 16, 2008, to add an additional goal of reducing the impacts of global warming through land use planning to the Growth Management Act. This act, among other things requires County comprehensive plans to measure and plan to reduce greenhouse gases. This act also establish a global warming adaptation program.

      • Substitute offered in the House on February 1, 2008, to add an additional goal of reducing the impacts of global warming through land use planning to the Growth Management Act. This act, among other things requires County comprehensive plans to measure and plan to reduce greenhouse gases. This act also establish a global warming adaptation program. Requires CTED to report back to the Governor on the progress of individual Counties achievements in reducing global warming by December 1, 2008. The substitute passed in the House by voice vote on February 1, 2008.

Looks like another ridiculous scheme to force life-style changes on Washington citizens while squeezing us for more tax dollars.
