2007 Senate Bill 5031: Protecting tenants of conversion condominiums.

To expand rights of tenants subject to condominium conversions. The bill would extend the vacate notice time from 90 to 120 days. The tenants would also need to be informed of any relocation assistance programs available through the city or county. Prohibitions are placed on construction, remodeling, and repairs during the 120-day notice period. Such activities cannot begin until 12 hours after the tenant vacates the unit. The bill also allows cities and counties to establish relocation assistance programs.   Official Text and Analysis.

To allow an apartment owner to provide all tenants with an option to terminate their lease and the tenants must still have access to relocation assistance. The substitute bill places a limit on the amount that a city or county may require a declarent to pay for relocation assistance to three times the tenant's rent.
